How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your App Store / Google Play account, not through us.
On iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Maktuba → Cancel.
On Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Maktuba → Cancel.
The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Until then, you keep full access.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are issued by Apple or Google, not by Maktuba. Contact them directly via reportaproblem.apple.com or play.google.com/store/account/orderhistory.
If you believe a reading itself failed (no response, blank result, an obvious bug), email us at privacy@maktuba.app and we will refund the keys spent on the failed reading manually.
Where is my data stored?
Your name, mother's name, and date of birth live only on your device. They are sent to our server only as part of a single reading request, then released from memory. We never store your profile.
Your reading history is stored on your device too. Our server keeps only billing metadata (which reading type, when, how many keys spent) — never the reading content, never your question, never the photo.
Photos for coffee or palm readings are passed through to Claude for interpretation and released immediately afterwards. We do not write them to disk.

How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Privacy → Delete my account.
This wipes:
• Your on-device profile
• Your reading history
• Your account on our server
• Your billing records (we retain a minimum required for tax purposes — typically 7 years — and nothing else)
The deletion is immediate and irreversible.
How do I export my data?
In the app: Settings → Privacy → Export my data.
You receive a CSV with your purchase history and reading metadata.
Can I change my profile after I set it up?
Yes — Settings → Profile. You can edit your name, mother's name, and date of birth up to three times per account. The cap exists to prevent account-sharing, not to obstruct legitimate edits.
Why do you need my mother's name?
Numerology and several Kabbalah-style readings traditionally use it. It stays on your device. We never store it.
Is Maktuba real fortune-telling?
No. Maktuba is an entertainment app powered by artificial intelligence. There are no supernatural powers here. Readings are not a substitute for medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. Every reading carries a disclaimer.
What if I am in distress?
Maktuba is not a crisis service. If you are in danger or experiencing thoughts of self-harm, please reach out to a real human. In Israel: ער"ן on 1201. In the US: 988. The app's safety system also redirects automatically to these resources whenever a reading touches crisis territory.
